Plastic shipping pallets from ACERLO are Stiropallet pallets, thermoformed in EPS at the Santa Catarina plant. Each one weighs 9.9 lb, while a wood pallet of the same size weighs 33 to 55 lb.
Air freight is charged by weight, so a lighter pallet means lower freight. The page includes a calculator that compares wood and Stiropallet freight costs.
Stiropallet meets ISPM 15 with no heat treatment, fumigation or stamp, because those rules apply only to wood. Crossing the border requires no phytosanitary paperwork.
